Future-proof lighting technology: Innovative companies rely on proven international standards

Every person and every company should be able to operate artificial light independently and replace light sources without specialised electrical knowledge - always with the most modern and innovative lighting technology.

However, this is only possible if the international standards that have been established for 100 years, such as the Edison and Germer sockets, are retained and not replaced by manufacturer-specific luminaire systems.

Germer sockets have been tried and tested for 100 years. There are around 15 billion G13/T8 and 2 billion G5/T5 sockets worldwide. By equipping them with efficient and long-lasting LED light sources, this could reduce global energy consumption by up to 12 %, while companies and private individuals retain control over their lighting - this is modern and economical LED retrofitting in accordance with IEC EN 62776.

Single-use systems drive energy waste

One worrying development is the replacement of standardised lampholders with tens of thousands of manufacturer-specific systems. This leads to enormous energy consumption and CO2 emissions during the production and disposal of new luminaires. You become dependent on the manufacturer and a qualified electrician is required for every maintenance job.

EPD - A simple comparison of the environmental impact of products

How do you find the most sustainable and economical light source? An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in accordance with international standards ISO 14025 and EN 158074 documents the environmental impact and energy efficiency of a product over its entire life cycle. This includes raw material consumption, transport, repair options and recycling potential. The EPD is reviewed by independent experts and made publicly available in the form of a data sheet by the Institut Umwelt und Bauen e.V. (IBU).
The EPD for the GLT TUBE was published by the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) in November 2023. The certification emphasises German LED Tech's high standards in terms of quality, transparency and sustainability. In cooperation with the Fraunhofer IBP, the entire life cycle of the GLT TUBE was analysed, from raw material extraction to recycling, which proves the environmental friendliness of the product.

LED retrofit according to international standards: Control over artificial light in our hands

With LED retrofits in existing lighting systems, we retain control over our lighting. Efficient and long-lasting LED light sources such as the GLT TUBE enable us to use healthy,  artificial light in the long term and economically - independently of manufacturers and without having to rely on expensive specialists. Replacing light sources is child's play and we can always fall back on the latest lighting technology. In this way, light remains our responsibility.
